Xiaomi Mi 5 now slashed to RM1,399

The most affordable Snapdragon 820 smartphone in Malaysia just got cheaper. The Xiaomi Mi 5 which was originally priced at RM1,549 is now slashed to RM1,399. The price cut is expected since Xiaomi had recently announced a newer Mi 5s in China.

The Mi 5 for Malaysia gets a 1.8GHz Snapdragon 820 processor with 3GB of RAM along with 32GB of on-board storage. The screen is a 5.15 incher with Full HD resolution and it boast a brightness of 600-nits. For imaging, it features a 16MP f/2.0 main camera with a 4-axis OIS while the front has a 4MP f/2.0 unit with Xiaomi’s own beautification feature.

This is a dual-SIM device that accepts dual-nano SIMs but unfortunately, there’s no room for microSD expansion. It also gets an infra-red blaster, WiFi 802.11ac support, NFC and Bluetooth 4.2 connectivity. Over at the front, it also gets a home button which doubles up as a fingerprint sensor. Powering the device is a 3,000mAh battery which supports Quick Charge 3.0 via a USB Type-C port. You can learn more in our Mi 5 review.
