Samsung Malaysia offers full refund for Galaxy Note7

UPDATE: Here’s how you can exchange or request for refund for your Note7 in Malaysia.

Samsung Malaysia has finally issued a statement with regards to the discontinuation of the Galaxy Note7. Existing Galaxy Note7 customers in Malaysia will get two options which include getting your money back.

Since there won’t be any further replacement for the Note7, Samsung is offering a full refund for those who return their current Galaxy Note7. Alternatively, Samsung is allowing customers to exchange their Note7 with a Galaxy S7 edge.

Each pre-order customer in Malaysia will be contacted directly starting tomorrow, 13th October. The call could come from Samsung’s own customer service, participating telco and dealers. If you’re still using the Galaxy Note7, it is advisable to switch it off immediately.

The official statement reads as follows:

SAMSUNG GALAXY NOTE7 PRE-ORDER OWNERS TO GET FULL REFUND OR EXCHANGE TO ANOTHER SAMSUNG DEVICE
With the recent reported cases involving the Samsung Galaxy Note7, Samsung Malaysia Electronics (SME) Sdn Bhd urges all pre-order owners of Samsung Galaxy Note7 to power off their devices immediately. Pursuant thereto, the option of refund or exchange to the Samsung Galaxy S7edge will be made available for the pre-order owners provided that they return their current Samsung Galaxy Note7 accordingly.

The preorder owners will expect to be contacted from 13th October 2016 onwards by Samsung Customer Service, related mobile network operators or participating retail
partners respectively on the details of the refund or exchange program.

For further inquiries, kindly contact Samsung Malaysia Careline at 1-800-88-7799. We apologise for any inconveniences caused.

We have reached out to Samsung Malaysia further clarification and those who opt for refund will get their money back in the weeks to come. Since there’s a price difference between the Galaxy Note7 and S7 edge, we expect Samsung to offer some form of a rebate to customers that opt for the exchange. Samsung will publish more details on their website soon.
