ASUS has just launched its first ROG concept store in Malaysia that’s located on the Ground Floor (Lot G023B) of Low Yat Plaza. This is a dedicated showroom to showcase the latest range of Republic of Gamers hardware and accessories.
In conjunction with the opening, ASUS Malaysia has also unveiled its most powerful gaming laptop, the GX800.
Announced during Computex 2016, the ASUS ROG GX800 is their most powerful gaming laptop that promises desktop-class gaming performance. The biggest highlight is its liquid-cooling feature that comes in a hydro-overclocking dock attached to the rear of the laptop. Compared to the former GX700 model, the new GX800 is bigger, heavier and the liquid-cooling dock has been redesigned to cool down both GPU and CPU.
In terms of specs, the GX800 now gets a larger 18.4″ 4K IPS display and it runs on an Intel Core i7 (6820HK) processor clocked at 4.2GHz. It has up to 64GB of DDR4 RAM and 512GB NVMe M.2 PCIe SSD storage in RAID0. For the ultimate experience, it even has a NVIDIA GeForce GTX SLI graphic cards with 16GB GDDR5X RAM. Another new addition is a MechTAG mechanical keyboard with RGB illumination.
With the hydro-overclocking dock attacked, the CPU can be overclocked up to 4.2GHz and GPU up to 1,961MHz. The VRAM and DRAM can be overclocked as well up to 5200MHz and 2800MHz respectively.
With the new upgrades, the GX800 laptop itself weighs 5.7kg while the dock weighs 4.7kg. Since this is a behemoth to move around, ASUS is bundling a GX800 travel suitcase with wheels for ease of transporting. If you just need to carry the GX800 standalone, a ROG SHUTTLE Gaming backpack is also provided as well. Unfortunately, ASUS Malaysia has yet to announce the official price and availability of the GX800. We are told to expect a starting price of about RM20,000.
If you’re looking for something that’s less insane, the former ASUS ROG GX700 is now priced at RM14,999. This is RM4,000 off its original launch price. In case you’re wondering, instalment plans are also available.
