Before the iPhone 7 goes on sale globally this Friday, the latest iOS 10 is rolling out now to existing devices. This is their largest update yet with a new lock screen with quick camera launch, improved Force Touch functionality and revamped native apps.
Depending on what device you have, iOS 10 will take about 1-2GB to download so it is advisable to have a fast WiFi connection for this upgrade. A couple of users including MKBHD had complained about bricking their phones but it appears that Apple has already solved this problem. We managed to update our iPhone 6s Plus and iPad Pro 9.7 to iOS 10 with no issues.
In terms of support, iOS 10 supports iPhone 5 and above as well as iPad 4/iPad mini 2 and above. The 6th gen iPod Touch is also supported as well.
To upgrade, just head over to Settings > General > Software Update. It is advisable that you perform a backup to iCloud before you proceed. If you have an Apple Watch, you’ll be prompted to upgrade to the latest watchOS 3 after you’ve successfully upgraded to iOS 10.
