About two weeks ago, Xiaomi had launched its new Redmi Note 4. The popular affordable phablet series now gets an updated premium design with a more powerful deca-core Helio X20 processor. While it will take a while before it arrives officially to our local market, a couple of grey importers are already offering import sets in Malaysia from as low as RM699.

Like the former Redmi Note 3, there are two variants for the Redmi Note 4. The base model with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage is going for RM699 while the higher spec model with 3GB RAM and 64GB storage is going for RM899. As a comparison, in China, both options are priced at 899CNY (RM548) and 1,199CNY (RM732) respectively.

To recap, the Redmi Note 4 gets a similar 5.5″ Full HD display underneath a 2.5D glass encased in a refreshed all metal design with flat edges. Powering both model is a 2.1GHz MediaTek Helio X20 processor that’s mated with either 2GB or 3GB RAM. Like the Redmi Note 3, it also supports dual-SIM and it accepts microSD card up to 128GB via its hybrid SIM slot.

In the imaging department, the Redmi Note 4 gets a rear 13MP f/2.0 main camera with PDAF while selfies are taken with a front facing 5MP f/2.0 camera. The back also gets a fingerprint sensor that unlocks at a single touch. Keeping the lights on is a 4,100mAh battery that is charged via a standard microUSB port.

If you’re interested, you can check out either DirectD or Satu Gadget Dot Com. Take note that these are imported sets and they are not covered under Xiaomi Malaysia warranty.
