LG has officially unveiled its V20 smartphone which is also the world’s first to run on the latest Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box. Like the V10 before this, this is a multimedia-centric smartphone and it comes with a secondary display at the front.
The V20 gets a 5.7″ IPS Quad HD display, while the second 2.1″ screen pushes 1040×160 pixels resolution. The extra display gives you a peek at notifications and it can be customised to show shortcuts without interfering your current screen. Under the hood, it gets Qualcomm’s top of the line Snapdragon 820 processor mated to 4GB of RAM and it comes with 64GB UFS storage onboard. It is also expandable via microSD up to 2TB.
The previous LG V10 had two cameras up front but now it follows the same formula as its current LG G5. Selfies are taken by a single 5MP f/1.9 front camera while the rear gets a 16MP f/1.8 unit with OIS for standard shots plus another 8MP f/2.4 camera for wide angle. The camera gets Steady Record 2.0 assist which provides steadier shots using EIS (Electronic Image Stabilisation), complimented with DIS (Digital Image Stabilisation) for reduced rolling shutter effect.
For better audio recording, you get manual controls plus LCF (Low Cut Filter) to minimise background noise. LG promises professional-grade audio recording with its 24-bit/48 kHz Linear Pulse Code Modulation (LPCM). If you enjoy listening to lossless music, the LG V20 also boast the world’s first smartphone with a 32-bit ESS SABRE ES9218 Hi-Fi Quad DAC.
Juicing up the V20 is a 3,200mAh battery which is still removable. Connectivity wise, it supports 4G LTE-A up to 600Mbps via carrier aggregation, 802.11ac WiFi and Bluetooth 4.2. It comes with a USB Type-C port that supports QuickCharge 3.0. The LG V20 will go on sale in Korea beginning this month and it will be rolled out to other markets in the weeks to come. In terms of colours, it is available in Titan, Silver and Pink.
