Acer officially launches the Predator 17 X gaming laptop and G1 desktop in Malaysia

The portable gaming market is getting more and more competitive as Acer has finally launched their all new Predator devices — the 17 X gaming laptop and G1 desktop — in Malaysia. These devices are designed to be compact, powerful and focused on what gamers want.

Unveiled earlier in the year at the Acer Global Press Conference in New York, we took a look at these two devices in detail and were fairly impressed with it. If you want to know more about them, do check out our full hands-on.

While the new Predators still look the same on the outside from when we first saw them, the Predator G1 has been upgraded and is now packing the latest NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 graphics card. This is a rather large boost in performance compared to the one we first saw which was only packing the Maxwell-based GTX 980 graphics card.

Unfortunately, the Predator 17 X is still featuring the GTX 980. However, both of these configurations are still VR Ready devices so you can enjoy the full VR gaming experience.

Besides that, Acer has also packed a bunch of new features into the new Predators. The G1 can support four VR standards and comes paired with Sound Blaster X-Fi MB5 and 7.1 channel audio that’s designed to give you the most immersive gaming experience. It will also be bundled with a Predator Mechanical Keyboard that has full-coloured backlighting which is customisable. In addition, the first 10 buyers (on a first come first served basis) will receive a limited edition G1 Desktop Transport Suitcase.

The 17 X, on the other hand, features Acer’s SoundPound 4.2 which gives users a combination of four built-in speakers and two subwoofers that have been tuned with Dolby Audio.

If you’re interested, the Acer Predator G1 desktop is priced at RM10,999 while the Predator 17 X gaming laptop is priced at RM12,999. Both of these devices are available from today onwards at selected authorised Acer retailers nationwide. Here’s a full list of their specifications:
