If you guys love instant cameras like Instax but don’t want to carry an extra camera, there’s good news because Fujifilm Malaysia has launched their brand new Instax Share SP-2 smartphone printer that can print instant film photos from your smartphone.

Fujifilm’s Instax cameras are incredibly popular cameras among youths who want to feel artsy. Most of the ones I see take instant photos, then take photos of those photos and post them on Instagram or Facebook. An interesting approach, but I could never really understand the need.

I may have gone off on a little bit of a tangent here so let’s get back to the point.

Fujifilm’s new Instax Share SP-2 is the second generation of Fujifilm’s smartphone printers and it features an updated design with a more angular approach. The Instax Share SP-2 can also produce better images (320 dpi) than the SP-1 and will be able to print a photo from your smartphone in just 10 seconds (SP-1 takes 16 seconds) via a wireless LAN connection. It can also support larger images (800×600 dots) compared to the SP-1 (640×480 dots).

The printer uses Instax Mini instant colour film which can print about 10 images per pack. Fujifilm’s Instax Share SP-2 can also be controlled via the dedicated Instax SHARE app. The app gives you some editing functions as well as support for Android and iOS smartphones.

From what I can tell, the biggest benefit of the Instax Share SP-2 printer is that you can get the full Instax instant camera experience without actually needing to carry an Instax camera around. You can just use your phone.

What’s more, it charges via USB so you can just hook it up to your powerbank when it runs low.  If you’re interested, the Instax Share SP-2 can be yours for RM848 and if you pre-order now Fujifilm will throw in a pack of Disney Film (10 pcs) in addition to the two packs of plain film you get with every purchase.
