Samsung Galaxy Note7 press renders leaked

The Samsung Galaxy Note7 will be announced next month and we finally get a clearer picture thanks to serial leakster @evleaks. Similar to what was expected, the new Galaxy Note7 design is close to the Galaxy S7 edge as it gets a dual-curve display while having its signature S-Pen.

If we look at the top of the device, you’ll notice what appears to be 3 front cameras. This apparently will be used for its new Iris scanner that lets you unlock at a glance. This would definitely be more secure and accurate than the conventional “Face Unlock” but we are unconvinced how is this better than using a fingerprint scanner.

In terms of colours, Samsung is introducing a new blue colour option that could be called “coral blue”. The body is still made of glass and it appears to retain the same reflective metalic material underneath. What’s different is the back has a subtle pattern of horizontal lines all over.

So where’s the Galaxy Note6? Samsung appears to be skipping a number in order to streamline its naming with its Galaxy S7 series. @evleaks has another explanation that makes sense. The Galaxy Note7 is actually the 7th Note phablet if you count the Galaxy Note Edge that was launched together with the Galaxy Note 4. Of course, there are more “Note” models in the lineup like the Galaxy Note 8.0 and Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 but those are tablets.

In terms of specs, the Galaxy Note7 is expected to retain the same sized 5.7″ Quad HD display and underneath it will be running on a faster Exynos processor with 6GB of RAM. Storage is said to start from a minimum of 64GB with further expansion possible with microSD. The cameras from the Galaxy S7/S7 edge are retained with the same Dual-Pixel 12MP + 5MP shooters.

For longer usage, the battery is said to be bigger at 4,000mAh and it charges via USB Type-C, which is a first for a Samsung flagship. In terms of software, Samsung will be tweaking its TouchWiz UI and you can check out what’s new over here.
