It is exactly a year since the honor 7 was announced for the Chinese market. Now it’s time for a new one and finally we get a glimpse thanks to its appearance on China’s TENAA certification database.
Following the launch of the honor v8, the new honor 8 is supposedly a compact version that comes with a 5.2″ Full HD display. On the outside, it gets a simpler design with a possible glass/plastic back. What stands out is a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner and a dual-camera setup which is similar to the Huawei P9 (sans Leica branding). Looking at the sides, it gets rounded edges which is similar to the current crop of iPhones.
According to its TENAA listing, the honor 8 gets a 2.3GHz Octa-Core processor mated to 4GB of RAM. There’s 32GB of storage which is expandable via microSD up to 128GB. The rear cameras are 12MP like the P9 while selfies are handled by an 8MP front shooter. The battery capacity is listed at 2,900mAh which surprisingly lower than what was speculated earlier. As a comparison, the Huawei P9 is rocking a slightly larger 3,000mAh battery.
The honor 8 is expected to launch on 5th July and they have already started teasing the device as their best looking yet. Earlier rumours suggest a base 1,999 CNY (about RM1,246) price tag and it can go up to 2,799 CNY (about RM1,745) for a high spec 2K display and 128GB storage version.
