Honor is announcing yet another smartphone and this time, it is the honor 8. Unlike their larger 5.7″ honor V8, the honor 8 is more compact and it will succeed its current honor 7.
Apparently the honor 8 is said to be their most beautiful smartphone to date and that’s to be expected from a new flagship smartphone. Instead of a huge 5.7″ display, the honor 8 retains the same 5.2″ Full HD display as their current honor 7. Under the hood, it should be running on their latest Kirin 950 processor mated with 4GB of RAM. Several storage options are available ranging from 32GB up to 128GB.
For imaging, it will get a pair of 12MP cameras at the back (sans Leica certification) and it also comes with an infrared port plus a back mounted fingerprint scanner. Keeping the lights on is a 3,200mAh battery that supports fast charge and it uses USB Type-C. Unlike the current honor 7 that comes with a metal back, the new model is said to have a metal frame that’s sandwiched between two pieces of glass.
The honor v8 won’t be coming to Malaysia and we are more likely to see this model arriving on our shores. The honor 8 is expected to launch on 5 July and it will go on sale for Chinese market a week later. In terms of price, the base 4GB RAM + 32GB model is expected to go for 1999 CNY (about RM1,246) while the highest spec model with a 2K display and 128GB of storage could go as high as 2799 CNY (about RM1,745). As usual, expect to pay slightly more when it gets here due to our fluctuating currency exchange rates.
