Alongside the more powerful and more exciting PHAB2 Pro, Lenovo also announced two more affordable 6.4-inch phablets — the PHAB2 and the PHAB2 Plus.
Of the two devices, the PHAB2 is the entry-level phablet. It’s got a 720p HD display, a quad-core MediaTek 8735 processor, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. The PHAB2 is made mostly out of plastic which is a stark contrast from the higher end PHAB2 Pro.
The higher-end PHAB2 Plus isn’t any bigger, but it gets a better 1080p Full HD panel, a MediaTek 8783 processor, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. It’s also got a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor for added security. Unlike the PHAB2, the PHAB2 Plus comes with an aluminium alloy body which should give it a much more premium feel-in-hand.
Both smartphones feature 13-megapixel primary cameras, but the PHAB2 Plus gets the added benefit of having a dual-camera set up for post bokeh blurry goodness, an f/2.0 aperture lens and laser autofocus.
These smartphones will be priced at USD199 (around RM807) and USD299 (around RM1,216) for the PHAB2 and PHAB2 Plus respectively. Both devices will be available globally in September of 2016 but it will likely be launched in the US before then.
