Samsung pulls the covers off their new Galaxy C line

Two new midrange smartphones from Samsung have been announced in China as part of the company’s brand new Galaxy C line. Named the Galaxy C5 and Galaxy C7, these two phones pack decent specs and look pretty sleek in their all-metal unibody.

The Galaxy C5 is the smaller of the two, coming in at 5.2 inches with a Full HD SuperAMOLED display. Inside it’s powered by a Snapdragon 617 processor (the same as the HTC One A9) mated to 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD up to 128GB). It is worth noting that on China’s Samsung store, there is also a 64GB storage variant.

The smartphone will be running Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out of the box and will pack a 2,600 mAh battery to keep the lights on. It also features dual-SIM support via a hybrid SIM tray.

As far as camera optics are concerned, the Galaxy C5 gets a pretty decent camera setup. On the back, it sports a 16-megapixel f/1.9 aperture camera while the front receives an 8MP selfie shooter.

Its larger brother, the Galaxy C7, is essentially a beefed up version of the C5 featuring a larger 5.7-inch Full HD SuperAMOLED display and a faster Snapdragon 625 processor with an Adreno 506 GPU. The larger device will also pack a bigger battery, coming in at 3,300 mAh with Quick Charge 3.0 support, and feature both a 32GB and 64GB storage variant.

Both devices look pretty good with their all-metal unibody that is reminiscent of an iPhone 6/6s. Measuring at only 6.7mm thin, both the smartphones are pretty svelte too, which is nice.

The Galaxy C5 will retail at RMB2,199 (around RM1,361) for the 32GB variant and RMB2,399 (RM1,485) for the 64GB variant. The larger Galaxy C7 will be priced at RMB2,599 (around RM1,610) and RMB2,799 (around RM1,733) for the 32GB and 64GB storage variant respectively. Both devices are currently only available in China and there has been no word on when these handsets will hit international markets.
