More smartphones are coming out from Guangdong province and they are coming out fast. After just a week of releasing the OPPO F1 in Malaysia, the manufacturer has just announced plans to release a larger-screen model of the same device.

Size always matters, right?

The smartphone maker announced this as it was launching the little brother in Mumbai, India. With the help of Nora Danish, OPPO has been marketing the F1 as a selfie smartphone and selfies always look better on a higher resolution display. That said, the OPPO F1 Plus will come with a 5.5-inch Full HD display (1920 x 1080) – upped from the 720p screen found on the original F1.

And with a bigger screen, it doesn’t hurt to have more RAM so the F1 Plus adds an additional 1GB found on its sibling – making that a whopping 4GB of RAM on board. During the Mumbai announcement, they felt compelled to also let everyone know that the camera will get a “more sophisticated front camera experience”.

Leaving us to believe that the current ¼-inch 8-megapixel sensor with an aperture of f/2.0 is going to get better. How? Well, in all honesty, we’ve felt for the longest time that megapixels don’t make up the whole equation – so some image processing and software enhancements could possibly do more for OPPO rather than adding more pixels to the shutter.

Otherwise, the smartphone will remain the same in looks and internals. That means you’ll still find a Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 chipset; 16GB of internal storage, expandable via microSD; hybrid Dual-SIM (Micro and Nano) 4G LTE slot; and its 13-megapixel ISOCELL f/2.2 with Phase Detection Autofocus and a single LED.

Upping the screen and resolution, could also mean that the battery might get a bump but no mention of that was brought up during the Mumbai announcement. If they decide to stick to the 2,500 mAh battery the battery life might take a big hit if maintained.

When it goes on sale, the OPPO F1 Plus will retail for Rs. 26,990 (RM 1646.56) in India. In Malaysia, the smaller OPPO F1 goes for RM 1,198 and you can pick it up from their online store.
