This deadly piece of tech is called the JIC or Just In case and it’s capable of putting cheating spouses, corrupt officials, and anyone in-between in the hot seat. Basically, the case allows you to record phone conversations with its internal microphone.
The cover is only available for the iPhone 5 (and later) for now and allows you to record any incoming and outgoing calls made to an iPhone. There’s no app necessary; no internet and server issues; and no worries about people hacking your accounts and deleting these recordings.
Of course, there are some non-ill intents for this case too. Say you’d want to record the voice of a loved one for memory’s sake or a long work related conference call to make sure you don’t miss anything.
You don’t actually need to have a phone conversation to record anything so the case basically doubles as a regular voice recording device. All your recorded MP3 files are stored on the 2GB microSD that it comes with. The case also has its own battery so it won’t suck up anything from your iPhone battery.
Record up to eight hours of voice playback with the case and don’t worry about not hearing conversations as the mic is able to pick up conversations up to 16 feet. The manufacturer claims that the 2GB card will allow at least 20 hours of conversations. If 2GBs isn’t enough, the case will allow bigger capacity cards too.
In a less than discreet fashion, the silicone case comes in three colours (red, black and white) and the outer plastic shell comes in six colours (red, black, blue, white, yellow and green). It is made out of plastic and silicone and has apparently gone under vigorous drop (10 feet) and pressure (220 pounds) testing without a hitch. JIC charges via micro USB.
To purchase a JIC case, you can head on over to their Indiegogo site. The most affordable pledge currently goes for US$ 29 (RM 123.13) without shipping. That pledge will entitle you to a JIC case, a 2GB microSD card, rechargeable battery and USB cable.
