Samsung’s Galaxy S7 duo gets listed by Indonesia’s FCC. Malaysia likely to get same models

The drama ensues as the Korean manufacturer’s upcoming flagships Galaxy S7s are seen on the Indonesian certification agency equivalent to SIRIM in Malaysia. We already knew the wave of rumours were beginning since we’re halfway into January with MWC 2016 hot on the heels a month away.

Based on numerous reports, it’s likely that Samsung will announce four devices of the Galaxy S7 series when the mobile related festivities begin in Barcelona. They’re listed as Galaxy S7, S7 Plus, S7 edge and S7 edge+. Reports have given a rough idea that the Galaxy S7 Plus and Galaxy S7 edge+ does indeed exist.

You might have also seen postings on how Spigen accidentally started selling cases for the “supposed” four devices on amazon. You can read about it here.

Evleaks has already shown off the alleged banner that suggest that the Galaxy S7, S7 edge and S7 edge+ will make its grand opening in a month’s time. And in terms of what processors they’ll be running, leaks way back said they’ll be a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 and an Exynos 8890 models – usually region specific. Here’s the note that was released months back:

Take note of the model numbers and see how they tally up with the Indonesian listings below:

You’ve got one that uses the code SM-G930FD and another that uses SM-G935FD. So for one you can believe that at least two devices will arrive during MWC 2016. Based on model names, it seems likely these two numbers match up with the next generation of flagship Galaxys/Galaxies.

The same deductions can be made based on the number that differentiates the edge variant from the regular Galaxy S# models. With the flat flagship carrying the “0” number at the end while the edged version ends with a number “5”.

The lettering, on the other hand, represents the interchanging processor options – “A” for snapdragon and “F” for the Exynos chipsets. We’re referring to listings of the older Dual-SIM Galaxy S6 that used this code: SM-G920FD.

So if this listing holds water, it would mean that the Indonesian market will be getting both a Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge – both Dual-SIM and both using an Exynos processor. Malaysians have a high chance of getting the same duo as well if the past is any indication.

For further reading on what features and internals could make their way onto the Galaxy S7 series, head on over here.

After checking the certification site, it seems that the listing has been removed. Maybe Samsung noticed and got it removed or it never existed in the first place. What we’re getting at is these are rumours and leaks so always take them with a pinch on salt.

In the case that Samsung does release four devices, we’d think that would be cannibalising the Note5’s market share and that’ll definitely be unfavourable if they were to out a Galaxy S7+. Company’s have done crazier things so we’re not about to hold out on Samsung. They might just do it. Consumers might be confused whilst being spoilt for choice but have we ever complained about having too many choices?
