Samsung Galaxy S6 edge and Galaxy S6 edge+ shown
With CES and MWC 2016 creeping closer, new reports have developed that suggest Samsung will be releasing a bigger (than normal) Galaxy S7 edge in February – further differentiating it from the Galaxy S7.
This suggestion is thanks to the same leaker who previously got the S6 edge+ diagram spot-on a year before its release. Based on the new diagrams, it seems that Samsung will keep to old habits and maintain a 5.2-inch screen on the Galaxy S7, while the curved Galaxy S7 edge variant will get a larger 5.5-inch display.
Then on, things are pretty much the same, as information has shown that the rear of both Galaxy S7 should look very similar. Pointing towards the backings of these smartphones to feature the same metal and glass composition – a real sore of a fingerprint magnet.
Taking a thorough look at the diagram, Android Authority spotted that Samsung looks to have omitted the IR blaster this time around, continuing what they’ve done on their larger devices: Galaxy Note5 and Galaxy S6 edge+.
At the same time, a Korean tech site has released a different diagram, that reaffirms the two different sizings for the flat Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge.
Based on earlier rumours and leaks, many have concluded that these bigger screens will also see Samsung implement pressure sensitive technology for the first time, if their patent filings were to materialise so quickly.
Otherwise, there has been whispers of a microSD slot making a return; a feature that would be welcomed openly by those who strayed away from Samsung devices after dropping external storage all-together.
It’s more than likely that Samsung will announce these devices during MWC 2016 in Barcelona, that’s scheduled to begin on the 22nd of February, so be sure to expect more leaks as the date nears.
