ZTE is launching its Axon Elite flagship in Malaysia

If the OnePlus 2 isn’t the flagship killer you’re looking for, this device could be a possible alternative. The ZTE Axon is coming to Malaysia and it aims to compete with the rest of the big boys in the high-end Android smart phone segment.

There are two models available, the ZTE Axon Pro and the ZTE Axon Elite. The Axon Pro is their highest offering with a 5.5″ Quad HD display and it comes with 4GB of RAM and 32GB to 128GB of on-board storage. Meanwhile the ZTE Axon Elite is a notch down with a 5.5″ Full HD display, 3GB RAM and has 32GB of storage. Both comes with a microSD slot supporting up to 128GB for your extra storage needs. For the Malaysian market, we would getting the lower spec Axon Elite.

The rest of the hardware are identical with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810 Octa-Core processor that’s clocked at 2.0GHz. For taking pictures, it features a dual 13MP+2MP rear camera assisted with dual-LED flash. Selfies meanwhile are handled by its front facing 8MP camera that shoots with a wide 84 degree angle.

The feature list doesn’t end there either, as it comes with a biometric fingerprint scanner, voice control and an iris scanner. Also included is a AKM4961 HiFi chip, NFC and dual-SIM slots supporting 4G LTE. Powering the device is a 3,000mAh battery which can be juiced up faster with QuickCharge 2.0. You can read more about the ZTE Axon in our earlier announcement post.

Locally we have recently spotted a grey importer selling the ZTE Axon Pro at RM3,499 (128GB storage version) and the Axon Elite (32GB storage) at RM2,550. Officially, the ZTE Axon Pro is sold at US$449.98 (RM1,935) in the US and we expect the Axon Elite to be offered less than that in Malaysia.

The ZTE Axon Malaysian launch is happening next Monday, 28th September so stay tuned for the latest updates.
