Uber Malaysia reveals “Rakyat” view special on Malaysia Day

Our local Uber HQ has been busy the past few months, launching products and services to commemorate occasions both internationally and locally; we’ve seen ice cream, smart phone deliveries, discovering hidden eateries and even an UberHandjob. They don’t seem to be stopping anytime soon, having announced a Malaysia Day special on the 16th and 17th of September.

Since providing an alternative platform to move around our wonderful Kuala Lumpur, Uber has sought to reflect its ability to unite people through the very notion of freedom of choice – “Rakyat” view will be held for two days on Malaysia Day and the 17th of September and take eager riders on trips around KL in 3 types of “local” themed cars: the Toyota Innova TEKS1Ms, Protons and Peroduas.

#UberRakyat view is created so that Malaysia’s citizens can take trips throughout KL, to explore its heritage and celebrate a momentous day. Bridging the gap and giving back, Uber will offer 63% off all rides to these great KL landmarks:

Petronas Twin Towers
Putrajaya
Little India
Petaling Street
Central Market
Lake Gardens
KL Sentral
Dataran Merdeka

How to take an UberRakyat view ride? Simply make sure you have the Uber app, slide over to the ‘Rakyat’ icon, and just request a ride. When you get in your Malaysia Day themed vehicle, you’ll even get a special snack pack, to help get everyone reminiscent of years of the past.

Below are the important details:

1. All rides on TEKS1Ms will be charged the meter fare plus a RM2 booking fare before the 63% discount for the areas mentioned above.
2. All rides on Protons and Peroduas will be charged a flat fare of RM16 before the discount of 63% for the areas mentioned above.
3. The discount is automatically applied to the Rakyat view, and valid for 2 free rides, worth RM16 each.
4. All other rides will be charged the regular fare applicable.

If you haven’t download Uber yet, it is available on Android, iOS and Windows Phone.
