It is not a typo. OnePlus 2 is called the 2016 Flagship Killer and will offer Android M features today

The OnePlus 2 is one of the most anticipated smart phones for 2015. The original OnePlus One had disrupted the industry, offering high-specs at affordable prices.

For the new model, OnePlus isn’t going to settle being the best device for this year. They are calling the OnePlus 2 a 2016 Flagship killer and are setting their sights beyond beating the best smart phones available today. That’s quite a ballsy move when we are just halfway through 2015.

For starters, the OnePlus 2 will feature top end specs including an optimised Snapdragon 810 Octa-Core processor and a plentiful 4GB of high-performance LP-DDR4 RAM. Also confirmed is a larger 3,300mAh capacity battery, reversible Type C USB connector and a fingerprint scanner which claims to be the best in the smart phone industry.

Based on what we’ve seen from its TENAA certification in China, it will have a 5.5″ Quad HD display, a 13MP main camera and a high resolution 8MP selfie shooter at the front. With all these new improvements, OnePlus had hinted a price increase which won’t exceed the US$450 (about RM1,700) mark. In Malaysia, you can buy a OnePlus One with 64GB storage at RM1,199 from Maxis.

On the software side, OnePlus has dropped another hint on its upcoming OxygenOS for the 2. While it would be based on Lollipop at time of launch, the OnePlus 2 will offer newer features that won’t be available on any other smart phones until Android M is officially released. So what’s new with Android M? You can read through our Top 9 new Android M features post.

The OnePlus 2 will be launched globally this coming Tuesday, 28th July at 10AM Malaysian Time and you can watch it yourself using a compatible cardboard VR. Is the 2016 Flagship killer worth waiting for?
