U Mobile’s #FreeInternetForLife prepaid plan gives Free High Speed Data like no other

UPDATE: U Mobile’s new POWER prepaid is now official.

U Mobile will be announcing a new product tomorrow which will put other free internet offers to shame. From the recent #FreeInternetForLife teasers, they are expected to do away with the usual pay per use charges for internet and will offer unlimited free “basic” internet out of the SIM pack. This is similar to what Maxis’ #Hotlink, Xpax’s #MagicSIM and Digi’s new SMART prepaid has to offer.

But is that it? If U Mobile wants to shake up the industry, they have got to offer more than just free throttled internet. Ahead of its launch tomorrow, we managed to get a glimpse of U Mobile’s new prepaid plan and let’s just say that it could put even some postpaid plans to shame.

The new U Mobile prepaid not only offers free basic internet like the rest but it probably gives the most free high-speed data in the industry. A SIM pack costs RM8.50 and it comes with RM5 of credit with 10 days validity.

With just a one time minimum top up of RM10, U Mobile grants you 1GB of data for every 30 days for LIFE! Of course, this is provided that your prepaid account is active with regular top ups. As comparison, #MagicSIM gives 10MB and one day validity of free high speed data for every RM1 you top up. So a RM30 reload would give you 300MB that’s valid for 30 days inclusive of a couple of free calls or SMS.

In terms of call rates, U Mobile charges a low 5 sen/30 seconds (10sen/min) and 8 sen/SMS, both of which are applicable to all networks. Upon activation, you get 200MB of high-speed data with the starter pack. In addition, they are giving up to 450 minutes of free calls to U Mobile users every month but subject to certain conditions which isn’t mentioned from the image above.

The launch is happening tomorrow so stay tuned as we update more details including its data top ups and other perks that might come included with this new affordable prepaid. If you haven’t already, do follow us on twitter at @Soya_Cincau.
