Samsung will be releasing two new flagship device very soon – the Galaxy Note 5 and the Galaxy S6 edge+. Word has it that both of these models will be launched earlier than usual, where the Note series is often launched during IFA in early September every year. To get an early start in sales and to avoid clashing with the upcoming iPhone 6S announcement, the new Galaxy Note 5 and S6 edge+ is said to be launch on 12 August and it could go on sale before the end of August.
If that’s not convincing enough, both models have just passed certification in Singapore’s IDA database with the Galaxy Note 5 carrying the model number SM-N920I while the Galaxy S6 edge+ having the number SM-G928I. At least now we can confirm the product names and there will be a larger S6 edge instead of a Galaxy Note edge replacement with an S-Pen.
In terms of design, both the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 edge+ would carry over its premium glass and metal unibody approach just like its current Galaxy S6/S6 edge. This also means that the new models are likely to lose its removable battery and expandable microSD slots.
Spec-wise the Galaxy Note 5 will get a 5.67″ Quad HD display and under the hood, it could be running on their latest Exynos all-in-one chip that integrates its Octa-Core processor, RAM, storage, GPU and modem in a single unit. As you would expect from a brand new flagship, it will come with 4GB of LP-DDR4 RAM. It is also rumoured to carry a 4,100mAh battery, which is a huge upgrade from the current Note 4.
As for the S6 edge+, earlier it was rumoured to carry a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor like the LG G4. However most recently it has been said that it will have similar specs as its current Galaxy S6/S6 edge with a Exynos 7420 processor and 3GB of RAM. After all, the S6 is still a benchmark beast, outdoing the rest with a big gap. The only differences between the S6 edge+ and the standard S6 edge that’s known so far is slightly bigger screen of about 5.3″-5.4″ and a larger 3,000mAh battery.
With Malaysia as a key market for Samsung, we could be getting both devices by early September. If you’re itching for a new Galaxy Note, are you looking forward to this?
