The Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+ and Note 5 tipped to launch August 12

We’ve been hearing off and on that the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 is set to be launched soon, and according to new information it will be launched on August 12th, alongside the Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+.

The report also brings to light some new details about the phones as well. For starters the Galaxy Note 5 will look like a larger version of the Galaxy S6 smartphone and won’t have a microSD slot, but will be home to a very thin bezel.

The S Pen will also has apparently undergone a bit of an evolution, making it look more like a pen and it will share the same colour as the smartphone it belongs to. Other rumoured specs include an octa-core 64 bit processor, 4GB RAM and a 4,100mAh battery. So far the Mi Note Pro and the upcoming OnePlus 2are the only devices that officially use the same type (LPDDR4) of RAM.

For the S6 edge+ on the other hand, is said to have Samsung’s home brewed Exynos 7420 SoC under the hood instead of a Snapdragon 808 chipset. There will also be 3GB RAM for the device, which is the same amount of memory residing in the Galaxy S6. In terms of other specs, the S6 edge+ is expected to have a 16 megapixel rear camera and a 5 megapixel front snapper as well as a 3,000mAh battery plus 32GB internal storage.

The Note 5 will be available in silver, gold, white and black colour options and both devices are apparently set to go on sale starting August 21st. No word yet on what the pricing will look like, but we expect that they will be close to that of the original flagships.
