OPPO launches the OPPO R7 lite and R7 Plus in Malaysia

The OPPO R7 Plus and R7 lite have finally reached our shores, bringing the brands latest flagship devices to the Malaysian public.

Surprisingly, despite being launched earlier in May, the OPPO R7 has yet to land locally despite already passing SIRIM certification. Instead it is preceded by two of its variants instead.

OPPO R7 Plus

The OPPO R7 Plus has a metal unibody design and powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor mated to 3GB RAM under the hood. There’s 32GB of on-board storage which can be expanded with microSD up to 128GB. This is a dual-SIM 4G LTE device, and the microSD slot also doubles up as a 2nd sim slot. The unit will be powered by an enormous 4,100mAh battery which supports VOOC Flash Charging. The R7 Plus will also be running ColorOS 2.1 based on Android 5.1 out of the box.

For taking pictures, it gets a 13MP Sony IMX278 camera that’s capable of shooting Ultra HD pictures up to 52MP resolution. For natural illumination, it is supported with dual-tone LED flash. Selfie shots are taken with its 8MP front shooter which comes with auto beautification features. Additionally, the R7 Plus will feature an extra fingerprint scanner at the back that allows you to unlock the phone at a touch.

You can view the R7 Plus product page over here.

OPPO R7 Lite

The OPPO R7 lite on the other hand features the same design and 2.5D glass as as the R7 and R7 Plus and will generally have the same specs as its bigger brother albeit with a few differences. The R7 lite will have the same processor and camera combo as the R7 Plus as well as ColourOS 2.1 based on Android 5.1.

The unit will have slightly less memory and storage, at 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage that’s expandable to 128GB via a microSD card. It will also be a dual SIM LTE device like its sibling but will instead play host to a MicroSIM and NanoSIM combo instead of having both slots supporting only NanoSIM.

The display will be a 5.0 inch HD AMOLED screen. Battery wise it also is of a lower capacity of 2,320mAh with Fast Charge but given its much slimmer frame of 6.3mm thin, that was probably all they could fit in.

The OPPO R7 Plus will retail for RM 1,998 while the R7 lite will be selling for RM 1,298. The R7 Plus will be available in Malaysia starting July 11th for pre-order, with the sales to come early August. Meanwhile the R7 Lite will be made available at a later date.
