Could the Samsung Galaxy A8 be the brand’s thinnest phone yet?

The Samsung Galaxy A7 was supposedly one of the brand’s thinnest smartphones in the market but there’s a new contender for the title from Samsung which is the Samsung Galaxy A8 which is purportedly is just 5.9mm thick.

In terms of design it looks like it shares the same flat edge design as the Samsung Galaxy Alpha, but has some design influences from the Galaxy S6 as well. The frame generally looks like its will have the metal rim which is more or less Samsung’s signature styling. The device is rumoured to come in at 157.7 x 76.7 x 5.9mm and apparently is just 140g in weight; literally making it the slimmest smartphone Samsung has produced to date.

We also get a glimpse at the specs of the device. The Galaxy A8 will be getting a slightly larger 5.7 inch Super AMOLED display at a 1080 x 1920 resolution as well as an octa-core Snapdragon 615 chipset mated to 2GB RAM. You will also have 16GB expandable storage as well as a 3,050mAH battery and Android 5.1.1 out of the box. The camera combo will be a 16 megapixel rear snapper and a 5 megapixel selfie camera up front.

Compared to its predecessor, the device will have a larger display than the Galaxy A7 which has a 5.5 inch display as well as a larger battery than it’s 2,600mAh powercell.

We don’t know yet when the device will be a China exclusive or the date of release but we really hope that Samsung manages to actually make it as thin as its claimed to be.
