You can now buy the Nexus 6 officially in Malaysia

For the Android purist, the Nexus smart phone is THE device to get. There’s no custom UI which adds unnecessary bloat and it gives you first hand access to the latest Android version like the upcoming Android M.

After being spotted earlier this year, the Nexus 6 is finally available officially in Malaysia. Unlike the earlier overpriced imported units, this is the original stock that’s being distributed by Brightstar. If you’re interested, it will be sold exclusively through DirectD at RM2,199, inclusive of GST and they are giving away a free tempered glass screen protector and bumper case. For DirectD’s I’m Member Privilege Club customers, you can own the Nexus 6 at RM2,099 (RM100 off).

The Nexus 6 is quite a huge device with a 5.96″ Quad HD (2560×1440) AMOLED display that’s toughen with Gorilla Glass 3 and there’s a pair of stereo speakers up front. Under the hood, it gets a 2.7GHz Quad-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor with 3GB of RAM, which is similar to the Galaxy Note edge. For the RM2,199 unit they are offering, it gets 32GB of on-board storage which isn’t expandable with microSD.

For photo taking, the back gets a 13MP f/2.0 shooter that’s assisted with Optical Image Stabiliser and it is surrounded with a dual-tone ring-shaped LED light. For selfies, you would have to settle for a 2MP shooter at the front.

Powering the device is a large 3,220mAh capacity battery that’s rated to last 24 hours of usage. The Nexus 6 also supports QuickCharge which claims to deliver 6 hours of usage with just 15 minutes of charging. Out of the box, it runs on the latest Android 5.1 Lollipop and if you’re adventurous enough, you can try out the Android M developer preview.

The Nexus 6 will be available in both White and Blue colours in Malaysia and for more info, just head over to DirectD’s Nexus 6 page or visit one of their outlet in PJ or Subang Jaya.
