Unboxed: LG G4

The LG G4 may not be coming to Malaysia officially but the folks at LG has just sent us a unit for review. It went on sale in Singapore last month and it’s heading for the US this week. This is the only new flagship that packs a microSD expansion slot and a removable battery.

If you’re wondering how is LG packing their latest flagship smart phone, check out our unboxing after the break.

To recap on the specs, the LG G4 gets a 5.5″ IPS display that pushes a Quad HD 2560×1440 resolution and it runs on a new 64-bit Hexa-Core Snapdragon 808 processor that’s mated to 3GB of RAM. On-board it gets 32GB of storage which can be expanded with microSD. The camera is one of its key highlights, offering a 16MP main shooter with Optical Image stabiliser, faster f/1.8 lens, laser auto focus and an array of manual settings. For taking selfies, it gets a larger 8MP front camera that even has a soft flash light. It runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box and it is juiced up with a 3,000mAh capacity battery which is user replaceable.

In the box that we got, the LG G4 comes with a standard micro USB 2.0 cable and a USB charging adapter which surprisingly pushes just 1.8 Amps. Qualcomm currently lists the LG G4 as a QuickCharge 2.0 supported device but you probably would need to buy a compatible charger separately. Since this is a review unit, it comes without instruction manuals or a pair of headphones.

The LG G4 isn’t officially sold in Malaysia but there are some grey importers that are selling it for as low as RM2,499 at the moment. Without further ado, watch our unboxing video below:
