In search for the ultimate retro phone, the Nokia 3310 that was introduced in 2000 may not be cut out for the job. If you’re looking to stand out, check out this classic looking brick phone that traveled all the way from the 80s. Introducing the KR999, a modern day feature phone in a 30 year old body which you can actually buy right now. Before you laugh it off as a joke, wait until you see the specs on this thing.
For starters, the KR999 comes with a colour LCD display that has a low 128×60 pixels and you do get some basic navigation keys along with a couple of buttons on top of the numeric pad. If you’re wondering where’s the camera, of course there’s none to preserve that old 80s retro appearance. You do get a couple of creature comforts such as FM radio, Bluetooth and even dual-SIMs supporting triple GSM bands 900MHz/1800MHz/1900MHz. There’s even a microSD slot where you can use it to store photos and videos, which you shouldn’t bother especially with that low resolution display.
Probably the biggest surprise is the battery which could even put some of your power banks to shame. On the label it is written as 9,800mAh but for the price and size, we reckon it could be far less than what it claims to be.
If you’re interested to get one, someone on Mudah is selling it for RM170 and it is available in either black or white. Imagine how cool you look when you place this down on the table at the Mamaks or Coffeeshops. Although there’s a Motorola label slapped onto the phone, we doubt the local distributor Brightstar would entertain your service request.
