Acer Malaysia launches 3 phones and one of it is probably the cheapest Lollipop device you could buy

Originally announced at MWC 2015, Acer has finally brought the latest members of the Liquid Z family to Malaysia with the launch of three new phones. If you’re looking for the cheapest smart phone with Lollipop, Acer has an entry level smart phone that runs with it below RM300.

The trio of new smartphones are none other than the Acer Liquid Z220, Z520 along with the higher end Liquid Jade Z.

Acer Liquid Jade Z

The Acer Liquid Jade Z is the successor of the original Liquid Jade S, and is the sleekest of the lot at just 7.9mm thin and weighs just 110 grams. While it looks very similar to it’s predecessor the phone will instead be featuring an updated 64-bit quad-core MediaTek processor mated to 2GB RAM and 16GB expandable memory up to 32GB. The display features a 5 inch IPS display at 1280 x 720 resolution with Zero Air Gap technology. Battery wise the phone will be sporting a 2,300mAh battery and the Liquid Jade Z will have 4G LTE and dual-SIM support. At time of announcement, it runs on Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box.

Apart from being the super slim, the Liquid Jade Z boasts a 13 megapixel rear camera wth a F/1.8 aperture for better low light photos while the front gets a 5 megapixel F/2.2 front snapper for selfies. The Acer Liquid Jade Z will retail for RM 799.

Acer Liquid Z520

The Acer Liquid Z520 is the batch’s selfie oriented smartphone and will be packing a quad-core MediaTek processor with 2GB RAM, and dual-SIM 3G support on top of 16GB expandable memory. The phone will also have a 5 inch FWVGA screen with 854 x 480 resolution and a 2,000mAh non-removable battery. The Liquid Z520 is also home to DTS Studio Sound speakers for those who dig their music. Like the Liquid Jade Z it will have Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box.

As for the camera, the Liquid Z520 will feature a 8 megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 2 megapixel fixed focus front camera. It is priced at RM499 and it goes head on against other cheap and cheerful dual-SIM 3G smartphones that boasts 2GB of RAM.

Acer Liquid Z220

The Acer Liquid Z220 on the other hand is Acer’s budget offering that runs on a dual-core Snapdragon 200 processor mated to 1GB RAM and 8GB expandable memory up to 32GB. Going down a notch, it gets a 4 inch WVGA display at 800×480, 5 megapixel rear camera with flash and a rather small 1,300mAh battery. Surprisingly the Z220 is also Acer’s first smartphone to sport Android 5.0 Lollipop.

At RM299, it is probably the cheapest Lollipop device to be launched in Malaysia so far. Compared even with the 2nd gen Moto E (VGA front camera), the Liquid Z220 has a better 2MP front shooter with a 89 degree wide angle lens for better selfies.
