The World’s Thinnest 4K TV has arrived in Malaysia with Android TV on board

Sony unveiled their 4K lineup of TVs in during CES 2015 and now the ultra-thin Android powered TVs are here for the Malaysian market.

The new models will be going by  X8300C, X8500C, X9300C and X9000C being the ultra thin model and the X9400 being the huge 75 inch premium model. All of the above will be run by the same 4K Processor X1 chip that allows the TV to scale up 1080p content to 4K quality without sacrificing any clarity or detail. The screens will feature a 3840 x 2160 4K resolution as well as the TRILUMINOUS tech to accurately reproduce brilliant colours as well as the X-tended Dynamic Range contrast enhancement to provide deeper blacks.

The displays will range from 43 to 75 inches in size and will feature Sony’s 4K X-Reality PRO upscaling algorithm that works hand in hand with the X1 chip. Under the hood you will find that the displays are running on Android 5.0 Lollipop and enables it full access to Google Play services.

The X9400C series is roughly the same as the X9000C series in terms of specs, with the exception of the 75 inch display size and an extended dynamic range that’s enhanced by the 4K processor for better contrast. This model was by far the largest one on display by Sony and unlike it’s siblings it has front facing speakers which comprises of a tweeter, subwoofer and woofer combo for good quality sound that complements the incredibly high res imagery.

The flagship X9000C model will be available in an ultra thin 55 and 65  inch formats and are coming in at an absolutely skinny 4.9mm thick at it’s thinnest point, which is thin even by smartphone standards. The two models also are capable to be mounted flush to the wall with a floating frameless style that looks pretty sci-fi.

The displays would be Sony’s first attempt at producing Android run televisions, which means that you’ll get to enjoy a host of Android games and apps down the line. Users will also get Google Cast built into the TV that allows users to throw content from their smartphones or tablets directly onto the display to be enjoyed in 4K. In terms of navigation, you can simply use the touch enabled remote to effortlessly navigate the interface with a simple flick.

The pricing for the new displays will run from RM 3,999 for the entry level X8300C models all the way to RM 39,999 for the flagship X9400C 75 inch display which bears a similar pricing to Samsung’s Curved TV.

Also launched were four new BRAVIA Full HD displays bearing the model numbers W850C, W800C, W700C and R550C which sport a similar but not so slim build, with the W850C and W800C series also featuring Android TV. The displays with the exception of the more basic R550C series will also be getting the same remote as the 4K TVs for simple navigation and X-Reality PRO enhance media by reducing signal noise.

These on the other hand are priced starting from RM 1,699 to RM 5,799 with model sizes ranging from 43 inch to 65 inch.

The TVs are expected to hit the market effective immediately and the displays are all certified for Digital Terrestrial TV (DTT) which will allow them to support digital format TV signals which Malaysia is due to implement in 2017.
