After a whole bunch of leaks and teasers from Vivo themselves, the phone is finally official, and no it doesn’t actually have that 32 megapixel front camera.
The phone sports pretty much the same specs as leaked prior, with a 5.2 inch Super AMOLED display at 1080p with 2.5D curved Gorilla Glass and a metal frame. The X5Pro is also pretty thin at 6.44 mm.
Under the hood is an 64-bit octa-core Snapdragon 615 chipset mated to 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage that can be expanded via microSD. The phone will be running on Vivo’s Funtouch 2.1 OS that’s based on Android 5.0 Lollipop as well as dual-SIM LTE support and a 2,300 mAh battery.
The camera’s rear plays home to a 13 megapixel camera with f/2.2 aperture for wider shots as well as an LED flash. The front camera on the other hand is a 8 megapixel snapper that has an image interpolation tech that supposedly allows you to capture images all the way up to 32 megapixels in quality, similar to how OPPO pulls off 50 megapixels with a 13 megapixel camera. It is also where the high tech iris scanner security scanner with eye-recognition is placed. We don’t know how well either one would work till we get our hands on one.
The earlier leaked specs stated that the phone would be sporting a 4150 mAh battery but it’s possible that it could be a variant that has yet to be announced.
Price and availability for the phone is still up in the air at this point, but the phone is expected to hit the market for around $440 which is about RM 1578.
