Samsung Malaysia introduces trade-up program for the Galaxy S6

UPDATE: The Galaxy S6 trade up values have been increased. iPhone 4 now accepted for RM300 instead of RM100.

Want to own the Galaxy S6 or S6 edge but don’t know what to do with your current phone? To make it easier for you to make the switch, Samsung has announced a trade-up program in partnership with Brightstar Distribution.

You can get up to RM1,000 off on your Galaxy S6 purchase depending on your current phone’s valuation at participating Samsung Outlets. Of course, your existing device must be in working condition with no visible damage to the screen, buttons and body.

So how much can your phone fetch? According to the trade-in list based on Brightstar’s valuation, the value is pretty low even for flagship devices that were announced late last year. The full list as follows:

iPhone 4 – RM100
iPhone 4S – RM200
iPhone 5 – RM400
iPhone 5C – RM250
iPhone 5S – RM650
HTC One M7 – RM150
HTC One M8 – RM500
HTC One Max – RM220
Samsung Galaxy SII – RM95
Samsung Galaxy S3 – RM200
Samsung Galaxy S4 – RM300
Samsung Galaxy S5 – RM600
Samsung Galaxy Note – RM115
Samsung Galaxy Note II – RM200
Samsung Galaxy Note 3 – RM400
Samsung Galaxy Note 4 – RM1,000
Sony Xperia Z1 – RM200
Sony Xperia Z2 – RM500
Sony Xperia Z3 – RM750

If you’re looking to dispose your phone, you would be better off selling it to a friend, relative or advertising it on some online classified sites. The Galaxy Note 4 and Sony Xperia Z3 are valued too low despite being a flagship just 6 months ago. Even the RM75-RM100 valuation for older models like the Galaxy S II and iPhone 4 is close to nothing that you are better off keeping them yourself. Perhaps this could be something to consider only if you don’t have time to look for a potential buyer.

The trade-up program is happening from now until 31st May. For more info, you can visit Samsung Malaysia’s Trade-Up event page on Facebook.
