The BlackBerry Leap is heading for Malaysia and it is now available for pre-orders through 11street. With the retail price tag of RM1,089 (inclusive of GST), the Leap is quite pricey the entry-level specs it offer. According to the listing, the BlackBerry Leap would start shipping on 19th May. As a special promo, they are giving out 11street shopping coupon worth RM150 and the first 100 buyers will also get BlackBerry merchandises including a cap and a leather phone pouch.

Announced during MWC 2015, the Leap is BlackBerry’s new affordable full touch screen phone that’s seen as an upgrade of the BlackBerry Z3. It features a similar sized 5″ HD 720p display and under the hood it runs on a rather dated dual-core 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus processor with 2GB of RAM. On-board it has 16GB of storage which is expandable with microSD.

For taking pictures, it features a 8MP main camera while the front gets a 2MP unit. For an all day usage, the Leap has a 2,800mAh capacity battery which is rated to last 25 hours with heavy usage. It also supports 4G LTE as well as 802.11n WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0 LE.

Compared to the Z3, the Leap is slightly bulkier at 9.5mm and it weighs 170 grams. As comparison, the Z3 is 9.3mm thick and it weighs 164g. Out of the box, it runs on BlackBerry 10.3.1 which is loaded with BlackBerry Blend and BlackBerry Assistant.
