HTC One M9+ and Desire 826 launched in Malaysia. Available 30th April

HTC launched their latest flagship smartphone in Malaysia today with the HTC One M9+.

The HTC One M9+ has a lot in common with the One M9 in terms of looks, down to the metal finishing.  Despite looking like a carbon copy of the One M9, the One M9+ does get a minor bump up in terms of screen real estate as well as a fingerprint scanner.

Also launched is the HTC Desire 826, which was announced earlier this year at CES.

Under the hood, the One M9+ will have a octa-core MediaTek helio X10 processor at 2.2Ghz, a 2,840mAh battery as well as a 20 megapixel f/2.2 Duo main camera and UltraPixel front shooter, which isn’t too different from what’s in the One M9 save for the processor. Like it’s sibling, the One M9+ will be running on Android 5.0.2 Lollipop with HTC Sense on top.

The huge rear camera will also sport a built in sapphire glass lens cover to prevent scratches.

On top of this, the phone will be sporting 3GB RAM and 32GB on-board storage with expandable memory of up to 2TB with claims from HTC that the phone is future proof in terms of storage. Like many flagship models, the One M9+ will be sporting NFC the One M9. As far as the screen is concerned, the One M9+ has a 5.2-inch display with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 at 564ppi and an aspect ratio of 16:9.

As for the Desire 826, the mid-range successor to the Desire 820 will feature a 5.5-inch Full HD display as well as a 64-bit octa-core Snapdragon 615 processor mated to 2GB RAM alongside 16GB expandable storage. It will also support 4G LTE and dual-SIM capabilities on top of possessing a 13 megapixel f/2.0 camera and a 4 megapixel UltraPixel selfie snapper up front. As far as specs go, the Desire 826 is quite similar to Xiaomi’s recently launched Mi 4i smartphone.

The HTC One M9+ will retail for RM 2,599 and will come in three colours, with Gold on Silver and Gunmetal Gray available from April 30th , with the Gold on Gold variant available later this year. Meanwhile the HTC Desire 826 will retail for RM1,359 and it is also available on April 30th. All prices listed are inclusive of GST.

However the HTC One M9 won’t be making a local appearance due to the country not being able to support LTE Cat6 bands and will only be launching in countries that support it, while the One M9+ runs on Cat4.
