Samsung’s flagships get the 24-karat bling treatment

Gold plated smartphones are nothing new, except that they are ridiculously expensive and but a few people actually own them. Now thanks to Vietnamese gold plating store Karalux, you can get your own gold plated Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 edge if you have plenty of cash to burn.

Though you might want to note that the phones have Corning Gorilla Glass on the front and back so only the rim is getting the gold treatment as well as the bit around the camera module.

Karalux claims that it takes them about three hours for their engineers to pass the phone through the ten stages of plating to get it 24K gold layered on top of an extra nano layer to ensure it doesn’t get corroded.

If you want to snag yourself a gold plated Samsung Galaxy S6, it’ll set you back an extra $400 USD (about RM 1481) on top of the device’s own pricetag of RM 2599 (with GST).
