Sony has refrained itself from launching a new flagship smart phone at MWC 2015 and had instead launched the Xperia Z4 Tablet. Now it appears its new Xperia Z4 smart phone could be released very soon as @Onleaks have shared a couple of high resolution press photos of the new device.
Looking at the picture above, HTC isn’t the only one taking the “don’t fix it if it ain’t broke” route for its design. The Xperia Z4 looks very similar to the model it replaces. If you look hard enough, you’ll notice that the front camera has been repositioned, while the speakers are now more discreetly placed towards the edges like its previous Xperia Z2. It was also speculated with no surprise that the new Xperia Z4 won’t differ much from the current Xperia Z3 with a marginally thinner body (Z4: 7.2mm, Z3: 7.3mm) while roughly maintaining the same height and width.
Looking at the bottom, we get to see that the micro USB port is now exposed which means no annoying flappy covers to open when you need to charge. Sony has finally done away with waterproof flap covers with the recent Xperia Z4 Tablet and Xperia M4 Aqua.
On the right side, the iconic power button along with its volume rocker and dedicated camera has been retained and there’s no flap cover on this side. For a cleaner look, Sony has moved the less accessed nano-SIM and micro-SD slots to the left side of the device. Surprisingly there’s no docking port which has been present in the previous Sony Xperia Z series. We can’t be sure but this could mean that the Xperia Z4 would probably be equipped with a wireless charging feature similar to the latest Galaxy S6.
The Xperia Z4 was rumoured to be released sometime in June/July but with a press shot revealed fully like this, Sony could be pushing it earlier for Q2 launch. In terms of specs, expect the Xperia Z4 to run on the latest Snapdragon 810 processor and probably with a Quad HD display along with 4GB of RAM.
