Apple’s much anticipated Apple Watch is finally official, with the brand showing off not one but three variants in their recent keynote.
The new wearables are the Apple Watch, the Apple Watch Sport and the Apple Watch Edition, where the former comes with a shiny stainless steel surface and band while the Watch Sport will have an customised aluminium frame, with the ultra-chic Watch Edition sporting a solid 18-karat yellow or rose gold frame.
As far as specs are concerned, you will be getting a 10.5mm thick device that has a weight starting at 40g (dependant on the version and the strap) with a 1.32 or 1.5 inch Retina display with an optional sapphire screen, NFC and has an IPX7 water resistant rating of up to three feet for 30 minutes.
As expected from Apple, the device will not just handle your regular notifications and fitness tracking functions, but has a ton of customiseable faces as well as a rather unique Digital Touch feature that lets you send a sketch,a tap or even your heartbeat to other people wearing the Apple Watch, on top of ‘all day battery life’ and additional apps can be gotten via the Apple Watch Store.
The Apple Watch will also be available in two sizes, 38mm and 42mm which means that there might have to be multiple case and band options for each size.
However, you will need to be owning an iPhone 5 and above to pair with to get it functioning at it’s full potential.
Pre-orders will begin on April 10th and will be first opening sales in China, Australia, the US, UK, Canada, France, Germany, Japan and Hong Kong; with actual ship date on April 24th. The pricing for the Apple Watch will start at $349 (RM 1,284) for the Apple Watch Sport, $549 (RM 2,016) for the Apple Watch and the 18-karat gold Apple Watch Edition will start at a whopping $10,000 (RM 36,894) and only be available in select retail stores.
