The latest brand to join the smartwatch arms race is none other than Oppo, and the are introducing one that has some tricks up it’s sleeves.
Rumour has it that the smartwatch will debut a the same time as Oppo’s Find 9 flagship smartphone and that the watch will just take five minutes to fully charge. That’s right, just five minutes after being connected to whatever dock or cable that might be serving as it’s charger and it would be enough for it to run a full day. It’s probably running on Oppo’s VOOC fast charging tech that’s already on Oppo’s smartpones and it’s not too far fetched to think that a tiny smartphone battery could be filled up in just five minutes with a VOOC charger.
But what we don’t know is whether or not the Oppo smartwatch will be an Android Wear device or be running a proprietary OS;but what’s for certain is Android Wear devices are strictly limited to wireless charging and that wouldn’t work with Oppo’s five minute charge plan.
We’ll find out soon enough as the Oppo Find 9 is set to be announced this year.
