Here’s a full HD Windows 8 tablet for just RM699 but you have to hurry

UPDATE: Daniel Chia, Head of Sales & Marketing IPRO Mobile (M) Sdn Bhd, has clarified that the LIVEPAD is equipped with a microSD card slot that supports cards up to 128GB. There will also be a 32GB version that will released sometime in March.

It’s amazing how far we’ve come, you can now get a computer for less that RM700. Sure it’s no frills and don’t expect to run full graphics 3D-rendered games on it but for 90% of the people who just want a machine, to check Facebook, watch movies and do some office work on, you’re not going to need an i7, 512GB SSD, dedicated graphics powerhouse, what you might want to get is this, a sub-RM700 Intel Atom-based Windows 8.1 tablet from homegrown brand, iPro.

The iPro LIVEPAD 8.9 offers an 8.9-inch display tablet running Intel’s Atom Z3735F Quad Core processor. You also get 16GB of on board storage, a 1920×1200 screen, an 8,000mAh battery and 2GB of RAM. At the rear, you get a 5MP AF camera and a 2MP rear camera. If you’re the first 800 people to buy the iPro LIVEPAD 8.9 from today until March 1, 2015, you can get the device for RM699 at Plaza Low Yat.

If you’re the first 500 buyers, iPro will also throw in a free keyboard and pouch worth RM199 with each unit purchased. If that’s not enough, every iPro LIVEPAD comes with a free one-year subscription of Office 365 Personal that includes Power Point, Word, Excel, OneNote plus a massive 1TB of OneDrive storage.

One major drawback for the iPro LIVEPAD is that it doesn’t seem to have a microSD expansion, so you’re going to run out of storage really quickly and will be depending on cloud storage or an external hard disk fairly regularly.

Once the promo ends, the iPro LIVEPAD will retail for RM799 and that puts it directly in competition with the other cheap Windows 8 computer, the ASUS EeeBook X205. The EeeBook X205 forgoes the tablet form-factor and touch screen but offers up a laptop with an 11.6-inch HD display (1366×768). You also get an Intel Atom Quad-Core 1.33GHz Z3735 Processor (Bay Trail-T) with 2GB of RAM, an option of 32GB or 64GB of on board storage and a microSD card slot which gives the ASUS an advantage over the iPro.
