A little late but better than never, OnePlus will finally be releasing an official Lollipop update for their One smartphone despite promising to roll it out within three months of the Android 5.0 launch.
This is OnePlus’s first major Android update, and it will come in March this year as stated by Carl Pei, it’s co-founder though reasons for the delay were not given. The same goes for the company’s own ROM Oxygen OS and CyanogenMod 12S which are both based on Lollipop and have been delayed to next month. Because Cyanogen Inc has ceased support for OnePlus One devices in India, OnePlus decided to make it’s own ROM for international markets that will be available alongside CM12S due to a two year promise of support made by Cyanogen for the One.
If all goes well you will be able to update your One to CM12S or give Oxygen Os a try, though you will have to do a full wipe of your device first. An alpha of Oxygen OS has been making the rounds for awhile but it’s not recommended for average users.
