The smart phone that could give the Redmi Note a run for its money is finally here. The Meizu m1 Note which offers a Full HD 5.5″ screen and dual-SIM slots with 4G LTE for less than RM1,000 is now available from grey importer DirectD. Only white colour is being offered at the momet and the base 16GB model is going for RM699 while its larger 32GB version is going for RM849.

To refresh your memory, the m1 or Blue Charm (“Mei Lan”) Note is Meizu’s answer to Xiaomi’s affordable Redmi series. Apart from having an competitively priced smart phone, Meizu is generous enough to pack a 5.5″ display with Full HD 1080p resolution and it runs on a 64-bit MediaTek 1.7GHz MT6752 processor with 2GB of RAM.

Like its flagship MX4 and MX4 Pro, there’s no microSD slot, so you are limited to the on-board 16GB or 32GB storage. For imaging, it gets a 13MP Sony f/2.2 camera at the back and a front 5MP f/2.0 shooter. Powering the device is a non-removable 3,140mAh battery and it runs on Flyme OS 4.0 that’s based on Android 4.4. Design wise, the colour exterior looks like a phablet version of the iPhone 5C.

Official Meizu distributor Blue Kor Sdn Bhd has plans of introducing its affordable smart phones in Malaysia but it is likely to be happening in the next few months. If you can’t wait, you can check out DirectD’s Meizu m1 Note product page. Wondering how does it compare against other large screen phablets? You can refer to our phablet spec and dimensions comparison post.
