UPDATE: Be careful with U Mobile’s Free Calls claim.
What do mobile users really want? If you ask around, you’ll probably get responses like cheap data, cheap call rates and more free perks. Now U Mobile is introducing a new range of 3 prepaid and 2 postpaid plans which claims to be better than the rest. It challenges the competition by offering lower calls rates to all networks (10 sen/min) and generous internet quotas for both prepaid and postpaid customers.
With its #GetClever tagline, it looks like a direct “response” to the recent “Don’t Bodoh” campaign website. So does these new plan offering make you a clever mobile user? Read on to find out.
For Prepaid, you have a choice of RM20, RM30 and RM50 monthly options with its U Mobile Unlimited Mobile Internet offering. All plans come with daily free 30 minutes of calls within U Mobile’s network and on top of that, there’s also bundled free calls to other networks as well. If you can’t finish the allocated monthly free calls, U Mobile is generous enough to let you carry forward up to 2X of your allocation to the following month. So this means if you’re on UMI 20 with free 20 minutes, you can carry forward up to a maximum of 40 minutes to the next month.
For data, they have almost doubled its quota from its previous UMI plans with its basic UMI 20 offering 500MB to its highest UMI 50 with 3GB. That packs even more value compared to most of the mainstream postpaid plans.
If you don’t want to worry about top ups, U Mobile is also offering the same perks for postpaid users. Its P50 postpaid at RM50/month is pretty much the same with its UMI 50 prepaid, offering 3GB of data and 50 minutes of free calls each month. For those with bigger data appetite, there’s the P70 of RM70/month which gives you 4.5GB of data and 70 minutes of free calls. Similar to prepaid, you also get to carry forward 2X of your monthly free call quota and there’s also free 30 minutes of calls daily within U Mobile’s network.
U Mobile’s new #GetClever proposition packs more value and we liked how it offers consistent call rates across postpaid and prepaid regardless of your monthly commitment. If you exceed your free minutes, all 5 plans charges just 10sen/minute (5sen/30sec) which is normally offered on high monthly commitment postpaid plans. For SMS, it is competitively priced at 3 sen/SMS within U Mobile and 8 sen/SMS to other networks. For those who just need a data plan without calls, it is good to know that you’ll have a decent amount of free calls being accumulated, just in case you need to use them.
