Meizu to announce an even affordable m1 mini next week

With the Meizu m1 Note competing directly with Xiaomi’s Redmi Note, the Chinese smart phone brand is about to release another affordable device which will complete directly with the Redmi 2. Possibly called as the m1 mini, it will carry an even lower price tag to fill the space underneath its m1 Note phablet.

The m1 mini is said to be having a smaller 5″ display with a decent HD 720p resolution and it is powered by a cost effective 64-bit MediaTek processor. 4G LTE with dual-SIM support should be present as well. Out of the box, it would run on Flyme OS, its own customised Android experience. Currently the Redmi 2 is priced at 699 CNY (about RM408) and the m1 mini could be announced at an even lower price. During the launch of the MX4, Meizu says they will be bringing 2 affordable devices into the Malaysia and the new m1 note and m1 mini should be making its way here soon.

In addition, the teaser images as shown above also hinted a couple of things for next week’s event. The second image of a home with WiFi is probably its new smart home offering and Meizu apparently is partnering with Chinese electronics company Haier in making a connected home a reality. During the Mi Note launch, Xiaomi has also mentioned that they have invested in Midea which will be producing a range of internet connected device.

It is possible that Meizu is introducing a fitness service or a device that could compete with Xiaomi’s Mi Band. Lastly, the 4th image could be indicating a new mobile payment system for the Chinese market. We’ll find out more by the end of this month.
