Tune Talk now offers more mobile data for less

For those who can’t live without internet and refuse to pay too much for data, Tune Talk has some good news for its subscribers. They have just revamped its monthly data plans where you can get 5GB a month for RM68 or 3GB for RM52. Previously their biggest mobile data add-on was their 3GB plan that was priced at RM58/month.

To activate, just SMS “3GB” or “5GB” to 2222. Each SMS request would be charged at 10 sen. According to Tune Talk, users will be notified if 90% of their data plans have been used up and you can check manually by dialling *134#. Upon finishing up your data quota, there’s no speed throttling but you’ll be charged at their Pay per Use rate of 5 sen per MB. That’s equivalent to RM5 per 100MB or RM51.20/GB (1,024MB).

So in total, there are 6 plans available from Tune Talk including daily, weekly and bi-weekly options. All plans are auto-renewed so if you plan of discontinuing the subscription, you’ll need to send a stop SMS command (e.g. 5GB STOP, 500MB STOP) to 2222. Take note that Tone Excel and Tone Plus subscribers are only eligible for 50MB daily and 3GB monthly plans only.

In terms of download speeds, Tune Talk currently offers 2G/3G connectivity (claimed average of 3.5Mbps to 7.2Mbps) via Celcom’s extensive nationwide coverage. Faster 4G LTE service is said to be available soon.
