HTC Desire 826 – Mid Range smart phone with Ultra-Pixel Selfie Camera

The HTC M9 aka Hima flagship smart phone didn’t make an appearance during CES 2015. Instead the Taiwanese brand is taking the opportunity to launch its new mid-range Desire 826 and an entry-level Desire 320, that’s basically an update of its Desire 310.

The main focus of course is their Desire 826 which appears to be a updated version of its Desire 820 that’s put together with the exterior of the Desire EYE. Design wise it looks quite identical with its duo-tone rubbery matte appearance, a prominent centre-placed front facing camera and its hidden pair of Boom Sound Stereo speakers.

Like the Desire 820 it runs on a 64-bit Octa-Core Snapdragon 615 processor but it is clocked at higher 1.7GHz speed. The display retains the same 5.5″ dimensions however it pushes a much higher Full HD 1080p resolution. On-board it gets 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage, which is possible to expand via microSD.

The camera is where it gets a little bit interesting. For its main camera, HTC has fitted a 13MP f/2.0 shooter with a single LED flash but surprisingly the front gets their very own Ultra Pixel camera that shoots effectively 4MP. HTC claims that its ultra-pixel camera works wonders in low light, hence the reason why it is being placed at the front for selfie duties.

Keeping the lights on is a 2,600mAh capacity battery and the Desire 826 also supports dual-SIM cards as well as faster 4G LTE. Out of the box, it runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop with HTC’s Sense UI 6.0 layered on top. The Desire 826 is targeted to be released in Asian markets and we probably can see this in Malaysia within the next couple of months.
