Purported Samsung Galaxy S6 metal chassis leaked

Samsung needs to work extra hard to maintain its #1 Android smart phone title and its new Galaxy S6 claims to be designed from a clean slate. In the last quarter, they have tried shredding its plasticky image by using metal frames on the Galaxy Alpha, Galaxy Note 4 and most recently the Galaxy A series. For its new Galaxy S6, the use of metal continues and this time its alleged chassis has been leaked by French website nowhereelse.fr.

Like the Galaxy A series, the Galaxy S6 appears to feature a unibody design and the chassis is crafted from a single piece of metal. This kinda reminds us of HTC which has been doing this since the days of the HTC Legend and the original Desire.

Looking at the cut outs, it is unlikely that the battery on the Galaxy S6 will be user-replaceable, something which Samsung is proudly offering on most of its Galaxy smart phones. Considering most of its competition like the Xperia Z3, HTC One M8 and the iPhone 6 lacks a removable back cover, Samsung might be follow suit in the name of aesthetics and body durability. With a flat edge at the sides, this could be better to hold with confidence compared to the smooth curved edges on the HTC One M8.

In terms of hardware, it is speculated to feature a ultra-high Quad HD resolution on a 5.5″ screen and it runs on a either a Snapdragon 810 or Samsung’s newer 64-bit Exynos Octa-Core processor. The camera could be sporting a larger 20.7MP main camera and it is reported to be equipped with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage according to the alleged leaked specs on Antutu. Like the current Galaxy Note 4, there could be a Galaxy S6 “Edge” version that showcases Samsung’s display innovation.

Some are saying that the Galaxy S6 might be “previewed” at CES 2015 but we reckon it is too early for them to announce anything at the moment. It is more likely for them to launch during MWC 2015 in March or at a separate Samsung Unpacked event in the next couple of months.
