Smart watches will continue to make headlines this year especially with the arrival of the new Apple Watch. Apart from its earlier multi-OS PIXI 3 smart phone, Alcatel OneTouch will also reveal a wearable device that promises premium design and it costs a fraction of its competitors.
Simply called as the Alcatel OneTouch WATCH series, it claims to create a new affordable segment for smart watches. Without any price indication, we are curious to see if this could be any cheaper than the popular Pebble Smart Watch that’s currently priced at USD$99 (about RM348).
Design wise, it has a round watch face like the Moto 360 and LG G Watch, and it comes with a variety of customisable straps. According to their press release, the watch has sensors that can monitor daily activities and it connects to Android smartphones to control music, take photos and show notifications. From the photo above, it does appear to have NFC support on the watch strap as well. No idea what it runs on but it could be a propriety smart watch OS instead of Android Wear. More details to be revealed from its CES 2015 announcement that’s happening in the next couple of days.
