Samsung Galaxy Grand Max and Galaxy A7 appears in South Korea

Samsung will be streamlining its smart phone models with the Galaxy A and Galaxy E series. For the Samsung Galaxy A range, the current Galaxy A3 and Galaxy A5 models will be joined by a bigger Galaxy A7, which is likely to be their thinnest smart phone at 6.3mm.

Confirming the details of the new device, the Galaxy A7 has appeared in a magazine ahead of its actual announcement in South Korea. Adding to the surprise is a new Galaxy Grand Max, which is seen as a refresh of its current Galaxy Grand 2.

Samsung Galaxy A7

The Galaxy A7 like its other A3/A5 siblings will be having a unibody metal frame design that’s similar to the Galaxy Alpha. The specs are listed as having a 5.2″ Full HD Super AMOLED display, an Octa-Core 1.5GHz processor that appears to be Qualcomm’s 64-bit Snapdragon 615 and it is accompanied by 2GB of RAM. On-board it gets 16GB of storage and surprisingly it gets a microSD slot for expandable storage.

There’s also 13MP + 5MP cameras, 2,500mAh capacity battery and support for 4G LTE. Overall, the Galaxy A7 weighs 140 grams and it will be considerably thin at 6.3mm. The Galaxy A series shouldk be making its debut in Malaysia soon as both Galaxy A3 and Galaxy A5 have passed SIRIM certification in Malaysia. It is also reported that the Galaxy Alpha will be discontinued soon to make way for cheaper models. After all, the Galaxy A smart phones do overlap with the current Galaxy Alpha.

Samsung Galaxy Grand Max

Next is the Galaxy Grand Max which is a minor update over its current Galaxy Grand 2 model. It retains a similar 5.25″ HD TFT LCD display, Quad-Core 1.2GHz processor and 1.5GB of RAM. On-board it gets a more generous 16GB of storage with an expandable microSD slot and keeping the lights on is a slightly reduced 2,500mAh capacity battery (Galaxy Grand 2: 2,600mAh).

It comes equipped with a 13MP main and front facing 5MP camera, which is quite a bump over the Galaxy Grand 2’s current 8MP + 1.9MP camera combination. The Galaxy Grand Max is slightly thinner too at 7.9mm thin (Galaxy Grand 2: 8.9mm).
