Several states in Malaysia have been hit with devastating floods which displaced over 100,000 people. In this time of need, they would need all the help they could get such as essential goods and monetary fund. Apart from the supply collection drive that’s being held nationwide, MCMC has open an SMS donation channel where you can contribute directly from your mobile phone.
To donate, just SMS BANJIR followed by the amount to 13999. (e.g. “BANJIR 20” for RM20 donation). Your contribution can be made in RM1, RM3, RM5, RM10, RM15, RM20, RM30, RM40 or RM50. All funds will be channelled to MCMC Humanitarian Fund and this can be made across all mobile networks in Malaysia including MVNOs.
For those residing at flood affected areas, communication services may get interrupted due to congestion and some base stations may be off from electricity supply. MCMC urge users to restrict usage to essential communication only to give way for search and rescue efforts. Stranded users are urged to conserve as much power as possible and we recommend switching power saving modes for longer battery life.
