Uber KL kicks off celebrity charity drive with Volkswagen this Friday

To bring festive cheer to those in need, Uber KL and automobile brand Volkswagen will be having a 1 day only charity drive this Friday on 12th December. More 50 celebrities will be hitting the streets as Uber drivers to raise funds for 31 charity bodies using a range of Volkswagen vehicles.

Some of the key celebrities include Sazzy Falak, Ean Nasrun & Jinnyboy, Afdlin Shauki, Lisa Surihani, Reshmonu, Phat Fabes, JJ and Sarah Lian. Each of them will be driving about 4-5 hours between 10AM until 5PM in either a VW Scirocco, Tiguan, Touareg, Beetle, Polo, Passat, Golf, Jetta and Cross Touran. Take note that each charity ride costs a flat rate of RM20 and is applicable for short trips within 30 minutes. Promo and Uber Credits are not applicable for the donation drive. As it includes smaller rides like the Scirocco and Bettle, there’s a maximum cap of 3 passengers. The donation raised from each ride will also be matched by both Uber and Volkswagen to the respective charity organisation.

To be part of this charitable initiative, just request for a ride by sliding the type of car to UberVW at the bottom of the app. If you haven’t tried Uber yet, you can download its official app on Android, iOS (iPhone) and Windows Phone. Take note that Uber is a cashless system so you would need to link your credit or debit card during sign up.

To get the celebrities familiar with their VW vehicles, VW has given them a few days trial with the car and they have to undergo Uber’s necessary driver training. Both driver and vehicles are covered by insurance for better peace of mind during the charity drive event.
